Bennett's Mill Middle School Chorus

About Us

For Bennett’s Mill Middle School establishing traditions has been of the utmost importance and a great challenge. Our inaugural year, 2007, began with students pulled from 3 different middle schools and over 5 elementary schools. We offer many programs for students that provide an opportunity to become an integral part of our school culture. One of those programs is the BMMS Chorus. All 7th and 8th grade students are in the “Bronco Chorus” and they may choose to audition for a select ensemble named “Bellisimo Chorus”. 6th grade students are in a separate choral group but may perform with the “Bronco Chorus” from time to time.

 

Over the past few years we have traveled to perform and compete at Disney and Universal Studios in Orlando, FL, Fiesta-Val in Williamsburg, VA, Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and Carowinds in Charlotte, NC. Traveling has been and excellent way to expose our students to various types of performance venues. We have been honored to perform at our State Capitol and performing the National Anthem for the Atlanta Braves in 2009, 2010, 2011 & 2017.

 

We are especially proud to have earned Superior and Excellent ratings at LGPE every year. At Fiesta-Val both our Treble Chorus and Mixed Chorus received Superior/1st Place ratings and were named Champion and Grand Champion for the competition. Our 6th Grade Chorus has earned Superior ratings consistently since we first starting competing in 2011 at Music in the Parks.

The Bennett's Mill Choral Program was selected for the "Exemplary Performance Award" in 2010-2011 for outstanding middle school choral program by the Georgia Music Educators Association.

 

 In addition, we have had many students involved with All-State Chorus, Spivey Hall Children’s Choral Workshop, District Six Honors Chorus and 6th Grade State-Wide Honors Chorus.

 

As we continue our journey together our priority is to continue to build a quality program and we look forward to the process.
